Nomi, a game changing seating concept from Europe, promises comfortable seating for all ages, from infant to teenager. Introduced at recent industry trades shows, Nomi is distributed by Regal Lager in the US and Canada. Founded in 1991, today Regal Lager represents five brands.
More than a high chair, chair, or booster, Nomi is a beautiful, world-class design concept. The unusual product was created by world-renowned Norwegian seating designer Peter Opsvik, who has more than 40 years of experience designing award-winning chairs for children and adults.
Nomi’s design is based on Opsvik’s philosophy of Active Seating. Children need to move, especially when they sit. This is why a good high chair offers the child support as well as freedom to move—both while sitting at the table and climbing in and out of the chair.
For generations, Europeans have included their children in family meal times from birth. The belief is that children should not be isolated from the rest of the family in a high chair with a tray. Mealtimes become more relaxed and children find it easier to concentrate on the activities taking place around the table if they are comfortable.
Including young children at the dinner table allows them to learn manners, language, and socialization skills. In order allow the child to sit comfortably at the table the chair has to bring the child up to the table and, equally important, “bring the floor up” to support the child’s feet.
Nomi seamlessly adjusts without tools and can evolve with a child’s changing needs. The soft, organic contours are pleasing to the eye and invite a child to stay active in many different sitting positions.
The Nomi is available in 40 different combinations to compliment any decor. The “stem” is available in four wood options that are compliant with international FSC standards. The seat, back, and footrest are made of recyclable plastic without the use of phthalates and parabens. They are available in 10 colors.
With focus on functionality, ergonomics, and safety, and brand new to the US and Canadian markets, the Nomi highchair sets a new standard. Opsvik, in designing a chair for his granddaughter’s use, has created a chair that is revolutionizing the market for children’s furniture.
The Nomi is one chair in three stages: Nomi Baby for children approximately 0-6 months old, Nomi High Chair for children from approximately 6-24 months, and the Nomi Chair for children from about two years throughout childhood. It can hold more than 300 pounds.
In addition to winning a number of European awards, the Nomi won an Award of Distinction at the ABC Kids Expo in late 2018, as well as being named a JPMA Innovation Award Winner this spring. The Nomi was also named as Best New Product as well as 1st Place Winner in the High Chair category by the readers of Baby & Children’s Product News magazine.
The Nomi was officially launched to the US Market recently at Vanderbilt Hall at New York’s Grand Central Station. The weekend after the Grand Central Station event it was also featured at the NY BabyShow, winning a Best in Show Award. It is produced by Evomove A/S, a Danish-owned company based in Copenhagen.
