The JPMA Baby Show in early May 2017 in Anaheim attracted 299 exhibitors and 738 trade buyers, with a total attendance of more than 3,000. The Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA) and Family Media, LLC., co-hosted the event and are co-producing a continuing series of baby events targeted at the juvenile products industry.
JPMA’s annual Innovation Awards was held in conjunction with the show and winners were announced on the show floor. Since the award program’s inception more than 25 years ago, JPMA has awarded nearly 250 companies, large and small, with the coveted “Most Innovative” title. From high-tech monitors and interactive toys to helpful apps and important safety gear, the JPMA Innovation Awards continue to raise the bar in an effort to offer parents innovative ways to safeguard and care for their children.
Attendees at the show had the opportunity to hear several speakers discuss industry trends, the Millennial mindset, focusing on overcoming obstacles and getting the most from a team. Jeff Fromm, co-author of the books “Marketing to Millennials” and “Millennials with Kids” offered a keynote presentation. Millennials, a name for the generation born between 1977 and 2000, represent 25% of the U.S. population and wield nearly a trillion dollars in discretionary buying power with influence over the attitudes and purchase decisions of other Millennials, Baby Boomers, and Gen X.
Jon Gordon, Wall Street Journal best-selling author, focused on overcoming obstacles and bringing out the best in teams in his opening keynote presentation. Gordon is the author of numerous books including The Energy Bus, Soup, The No Complaining Rule, Training Camp, and The Carpenter. In addition, Jon and his tips have been featured on The Today Show, CNN, Fox and Friends, and in numerous magazines and newspapers.
Practical Futurist® Michael Rogers’ provided forecasts on what is in store for 2020 and beyond. Rogers reviewed the more predictable activities impacting the future such as advancing technology, genomics, and the development of new manufacturing materials and how they intersect with the Millennial family formation.
Attendees were able to discover what breakthrough products are on the horizon, why smart homes will get smarter, and how new parents will manage their children’s “screen time.”
The 2018 JPMA Baby Show is scheduled March 20-24 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.
